# Maths

Firstly, we learned about place value in great depth. We need to have a good understanding of place value, so we can access other parts of the curriculum, so it is vital that we do this first and do it well!

Then, we are worked on a range of methods to help us with addition and subtraction.

Multiplication and division followed, accessing a range of strategies. It's impressive what we can do! A solid understanding of our times tables helps us with both multiplication and division.

We have used these skills to help us with scaling and statistics.

We complete a 5 minute times tables quiz every Thursday, to ensure we know them well and can do them quickly. This is important for many aspects in Maths, so will help us all year.

Fractions! We have learned that fractions aren't as scary as they seem. We can add fractions, subtract fractions and even find equivalent fractions... about two thirds of the time.

It's time... Year 3 have been learning about how to tell the time on a digital 24 hour clock and an analogue clock. We can work out what time an event starts or finishes depending on how long it took. Even though it seems confusing, we are now skilled at telling the time (to the closest minute!)
