Bonfire Night
During the first week in November all of the English tasks were linked to Bonfire Night.
The children learnt about and then wrote a recount of the Gunpowder Plot. They watched videos of fireworks and used adjectives, expanded noun phrases and similes to describe the fireworks. The children listened to the Sparks in the Sky story and thought about Bonfire Night and what they can see, hear, smell, feel and taste. They then wrote senses poems. They then had to design a firework/Bonfire Night safety poster. The children really enjoyed designing their posters.
Vlad and The Great Fire of London
After listening to the story the children thought of questions to ask the characters Boxton and Vlad. We then did a hot seating activity where the children pretended to be the characters and the other children asked them their questions. The children also pretended to be Buxton and wrote a diary entry.
