he first text we will be studying this term is THE BOY, THE FOX AND THE HORSE.

The writing to come from this will be :

* Character description. 

* Diary entry. 

* Informal letter writing.


The second text we will study is THE BOY AT THE BACK OF THE CLASS.

The writing to come from this will be :

* A recount.

* A setting description.

* A description of a piece of fruit.

* A non-chronological report.

* A formal letter.



Every Friday the children will have a spelling test. The children will work at their own pace through the Year3/4 word list and then on to the Year 5/6 word list.


Whole class guided reading will take place four times a week, including shared reading aloud, comprehension and dictionary skills.


Short handwriting lessons will take place four times a week to practice the cursive handwrting style.
