During the Spring Term we have been looking at the books The Three Little Pigs, The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark and Paddington. We have also been looking at clips from the film Paddington. Whilst learning about Paddington the children made and tasted marmalade sandwiches.
During the maths sessions the children have been recognising and ordering numbers. We have also been learning about 3D shapes, weight, addition and subtraction.
Understanding the World
During the Understanding of the World sessions the children have been learning about materials and their properties. We have also learnt about manmade and natural materials. During the next two weeks the children will be designing a coat for Paddington and then working as a team to make a waterproof coat for Paddington. We have also been learning about the seven continents and Peru where Paddington bear comes from.
The children have also been learning about special times and celebrations. The children enjoyed having a birthday party. We also had a mini wedding and the children christened one of the pretend babies.
Expressive Arts and Design
In art the children have collaged the three little pigs houses, made huff puff paintings by blowing paint and painted a picture of the three little pigs for the pigs Mummy because she misses them now they have moved out. Whilst learning about Paddington the children have been sketching and painting pictures of Paddington.
During the indoor Physical Development sessions the children have been learning how to ride balance bikes. They have learnt how to put their helmet on safely, how to ride the bike using different steps and how to steer the bike around the cones. The children have also been using their listening skills to know when to brake to stop.
During the outdoor Physical Development sessions the children have been learning ball skills using their feet to stop the ball, pass the ball to a partner and dribble the ball in and out of the cones.
