Summer 1

Lower Key Stage 2 Newsletter – Summer 1 2026

We hope you all have a well-deserved and relaxing Easter break.  We look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 21st April rested and ready for the busy Summer Term with lots of fun and learning

Highlights for Spring 2

We all had a great visit to the church to learn about its role in the community and we thank Reverend David for his time and enthusiasm. We have loved finding out about what affects plant growth practically by observing plants in different conditions. Our D and T project creating book sleeves has been both challenging and fun. Children have also been enjoying their Rocksteady music lessons this term and we look forward to their performance on the 14th of July.

Reminders for the Summer Term 2026

Children should bring a drink of water to school in a named bottle.

Please ensure that any clothing is named – then it can be returned to your child should it be lost.

Any break time snacks should be healthy ones please.

Please remember that children are not allowed to bring toys to school, this includes trading cards or stickers – it causes upset if they are lost or broken. Could we also please ask that fidgets are not brought into school without prior agreement with the class teacher. These are causing distraction in lessons rather than helping children to focus. We have a range of whole class, small group and individual regulation strategies and tools in place across the school.

Reading Record cards are due in each Friday for BADGER and WOODPECKER and MONDAY in HEDGEHOG class  so teachers can log the number of reads each child has achieved. Children are expected to read at least 4 times a week at home. Any children who manage this every week for the term will be entered into the reading prize drawer at the end of term.

Children will be responsible for telling an adult when their books need changing, and an adult will help them select the correct one for their stage.

Homework will be set on a Friday, due in the following Friday.

Class Dojo is used to communicate with parents and there is also a ‘contact the teacher’ form on the class page on the website. Please keep an eye on the class page on the website for updates and learning taking place in the class.

PE

Hedgehog – Monday and Thursday

Badger – Monday and Friday

Woodpecker – Monday and Friday

Some lessons will take place outdoors, weather permitting, please ensure appropriate P.E. kit is worn.
