Reminders for Spring Term 2024
Each day, children will need suitable uniform according to the weather, water bottles containing water only, healthy snacks for break, reading book and reading diary every day. Books will be changed when needed. Children should not wear jewellery to school apart from stud earrings.
Just a reminder that children will not need to bring in additional stationery or pencil cases as this equipment will be provided and that toys should be left at home.
PE for Kingfisher and Kestrel will be on Tuesday and Friday and PE for Fox will be on Thursday and Friday. Children are to come to school in their PE kit and trainers on these days to avoid the need to change in school. Earrings need to be either removed for PE or covered in plasters that you can provide please.
Class Dojo is still being used to communicate with parents and there is a contact the teacher form on the class page on the website for you to be able to contact us directly.
Curriculum Focus for Spring Term 1 2024
Our Geography project this term will be: How is climate change affecting our planet?
Maths - Year 5 – Area and Scaling, Calculating with Decimal Fractions, Factors, Multiples & Primes
English – We will be ‘writing to discuss’ using our Reading book as a stimulus for writing.
Science – We will be exploring the solar system – ‘What do you know about Earth and Beyond?’
RE – We will be learning about Christianity. Our big question is ‘How does the Bible teach Christians to treat others?
PE – We will be working on our netball skills and gymnastics.
Art- Who is David Buckland and what is climate change art?
Computing - How do I create a video?
Online safety – How do people communicate online? What is online bullying?
PHSE – What is a healthy relationship?
French - We will be learning about Clothes and Planets?
Music - How does Music improve our world?
Diary Dates for Spring Term 2024
Wednesday 3rd January – Children return to school
Thursday 11th January – Snapshot reports sent out to parents
Friday 2nd February- Planetarium to visit Year 5 and 6
Friday 9th February – Last day of Spring term one
Monday 19th February- Children return to school
As we have learnt, the best made plans sometimes need to change. The above dates may need to be altered but we will do our best to communicate any necessary changes as soon as we are aware.
