Reminders for Spring Term 2025

Please can you make sure your child has a coat at school every day.  We like to take advantage of our lovely outdoor area and encourage the children to explore and investigate in the fresh air as much as possible whatever the weather (within reason!). 

Please ensure your child has a named bottle filled with water with them each day.

Reading diaries will be sent home, and new eBooks assigned, on Fridays. Please return Reading Diaries to school on Mondays.

We will be sharing our favourite stories on Mondays, and on Fridays we will be celebrating children’s out of school achievements, so please send any trophies or certificates in on Fridays.

On P.E days children need to come to school on these days in their P.E kit.

          Squirrel: Thursday and Friday

Curriculum Focus for Spring Term 2025

Maths – In Maths Year 1’s will be continuing to learn about recognising, composing, decomposing and manipulating 2D and 3D shapes, numbers 0-10 and additive numbers. Year 2’s will be continuing introduction to multiplication.

English – We will be writing to inform. We will be developing our use of noun phrases, question marks, commas and exclamation marks.

Science – In Science we are exploring different materials.

History – We will be exploring how flying has changed.

R.E – We will be learning about which celebrations are important to Christians and what practices are linked with these celebrations.

P.E – In P.E, Robin and Rabbit will be doing body and balls skills with the sports coach, as well as dance. Squirrel will also be doing body and ball skills, as well as dance.

Art - We will be learning about weaving and the artist Gunta Stolzl.

Music – We will be exploring the question ‘How does music make the world a better place?’

Computing – In Computing we will be exploring how technology can be used to collect data.

Online Safety – In Online Safety, we will be learning about how to find information using digital technology, including search engines and voice activated searching.

Year 2 – I know doubles and halves of numbers to 20.

Diary Dates for Spring Term 1 2025

Monday 6^th – First day of school.

Thursday 9^th – Snapshot reports.

Tuesday 11^th – Visit to the Air Museum.

Friday 14^th – Last day of term.

As we have learnt, the best made plans sometimes need to change.  The above dates may need to be altered but we will do our best to communicate any necessary changes as soon as we are aware.
