Summer Term 2 2023
Welcome back to our final term this year and for some their final at Scotter School! We have lots of exciting things ahead to look forward to as well as some special activities for Year 6!


Reminders for Summer Term 2 2023
Each day, children will need suitable uniform according to the weather, water bottles containing water only, healthy snacks for break, reading book and reading diary every day, please can you encourage as much reading at home as possible. Books will be changed when needed. Children should not wear jewellery to school apart from stud earrings. Year 6 are welcome to wear their leavers hoodies everyday next term.
 Kestrel will have PE on Monday and Thursday. Children are to come to school in their PE kit and trainers on these days to avoid the need to change in school. Earrings need to be either removed for PE or covered in plasters that you can provide please.
Class Dojo is still being used to communicate with parents and there is a contact the teacher form on the class page on the website for you to be able to contact us directly.


Curriculum Focus for Summer Term 2 2023
Our Geography project this term will be: Why are rivers important to people?
Maths Year 5 – converting units, angles, roman numerals and data.
Year 6 – ratio and proportion, calculation using knowledge of structures, mean, solving problems with 2 unknowns and order of operations.
English – We will be ‘writing to discuss’ using our Geography topic as a stimulus for writing.
Science – We will be exploring the forces and materials with our key question – ‘What is force?’
RE – We will be learning about a range of religions with our key question- Do you have to believe in God to be Good?
PE – we will be working on athletics and volleyball. (Y5 swimming).
DT – How can we use texture to portray our rivers? (sewing).
Computing - How can I programme successfully?
Online safety – How can technology affect health and wellbeing?
PHSE – What do I need to know about the wider world?
French – ‘At the weekend’.
Music - How does music connect us with the environment?

Tuesday 13th June Puberty talk for years five and six
Thursday 15th and Friday 16th June the Rhubarb Theatre are in school working with pupils
Friday 23rd June Year Six visit Kidzania in London
Monday 26th June Sports Day
Friday 30th June Transition morning - pupils spending the day in their new class
Friday 14th July Year Six PGL residential
Monday 3rd July Reserve Sports Day for if the 26th June needs to be cancelled
Friday 7th July Disco (this date has changed from the one shared at the beginning of the academic year due to the residential)
Monday 17th July Reports out to parents - if you wish to discuss the report, please contact your child's class teacher
Thursday 20th July Year Six Leavers assembly
Thursday 20th July Year Six Leavers party
Friday 21st July Last day of the academic year
Wednesday 6th September 2023 - children return to school


As we have learnt, the best made plans sometimes need to change. The above dates may need to be altered but we will do our best to communicate any necessary changes as soon as we are aware.
