Curriculum Focus for Summer Term 2023

Maths - Year 3 – Fractions  unit and non-unit fractions within a whole, parallel and perpendicular lines n shapes and time.

 

English – A range of genres including persuasive writing, poetry and narratives linking with our Anglo-Saxon and Viking topic.

 

Science – We will investigate solids liquids and gases. Then we will learn about electricity, making circuits.

 

History – What can place names tell us about Anglo Saxon and Viking settlements? We will learn about the lifestyles of the Anglo Saxons and the Vikings and why they came to settle in Britain.

 

Computing – We will learn about using a computer to draw shapes and using repetition in programming.

 

RE – We will learn about what living a good life means to people of faith - Sikhism, Judaism and Buddhism.

 

PE – We will be focusing on striking and fielding games and athletics

 

Music – We will continue to follow our Charanga scheme of work and will be thinking about how music influences our lives and connects us to our Earth..

 

D and T – We will be investigating, designing and stitching a soft toy

 

Art- we will work with clay to create dragon’s eyes

 

PSHE – living in the wider world.

 

French – Children will learn to recognise and say the French so that they can introduce themselves and order food in a café.
