All staff and Governors undertake extensive training in addition to the Designated Safeguarding Lead attending termly Local Authority updates and being part of the local safeguarding cluster.
Updates for online safety and other concerns raised in the local or wider area are always shared with parents who we work in a close partnership with. It is when school and home work together that our children are kept safe.
Pupil voice and relationships are key. We all have a constant professional curiosity and make sure that we are the adults that our children need us to be if they need to make a disclosure.
Team Around the Family (TAF - formerly known as TAC, Team around the Child)
Team Around the Family (TAF) offers early help and support for children as soon as we have a worry about them. It begins with school and home meeting to complete an Early Help Assessment which will identify what the concerns/worries are.
TAF is how different people and services work together to help children and their families at any point in their lives to prevent or reduce difficulties before they become too difficult. It is completely voluntary and parents can withdraw and end the process at any point.
Yes, TAF supports children and young people before they are born until their 19th birthday. Young people with additional needs can continue to receive TAF support up to their 25th birthday.
You choose who you would like to be the Lead Professional, they will support you and your child through the TAF. The Lead Professional will be someone who works with children and knows your child. They may remain the same person or change if your situation changes.
Together, parents and the Lead Professional, invite other professionals they would like to support your family in TAF.
The Lead Professional will talk to you about what you and your child are worried about. They will also ask who is in your child’s life that make things easier. Together you will talk about what needs to happen to lessen these worries and where to start.
Your child will play an active part in this and will share their feelings to them and when things begin to feel better.
The TAF will stay open while it is making a positive difference for your child. The TAF closes when all goals are met, or the child/family feel the team approach is no longer needed.
Absolutely, ideally someone who knows your child well. This may be family and friends. Information about your family will not be shared without you agreeing to this unless there is a safeguarding concern.
If you would like to discuss the TAF process further, please see a member of staff in school.
