Curriculum Focus for Spring Term 2025

1. Maths:

Year 3 – Securing mental calculation, written methods in addition and subtraction and multiplicative relationships.

Year 4 – Multiplication, fractions and coordinates.

Key Instant Recall Facts (KIRF)

Year 3 I know the multiplication and division facts for the 3 times table.

Year 4 I know the multiplication and division facts for the 9 and 11 times table.

1. English - We will be focusing our learning around The Great Kapok Tree, describing the setting and rewriting parts of the story. Writing to Entertain, we will use the book as a stimulus, as well as texts similar to help build our writing . 
2. Science – How are living things adapted to their environment?
3. Geography – what could be done to protect the rainforest?
4. Computing – Can a camera lie? Can a digital device sense the environment?
5. RE – How do symbols in the Bible help Christians to relate to God?
6. PE – We will be focusing on hockey and Floor Gymnastics.
7. Music – We will continue to follow our Charanga scheme of work; how does music improve our world? How does music teach us about our community?
8. Art – How can I use collage to produce work in the style of Oenone Hamersley?
9. PSHE – How can I make and keep healthy relationships?
10. French – Children will learn I can statements and fruits in French.
